The range of AI voices available today is enormous, but their quality varies widely. Some models sound robotic and unnatural; others handle English beautifully but struggle with other languages.
We don't leave the visitor experience to chance. We only add voices to Cabinet Studio that pass rigorous testing and meet our demanding criteria:
- Variety and emotional range: We make sure you have a wide range of male and female voices across different age groups. Alongside adult professionals, we've experimentally added children's voices, which work wonderfully for family or educational routes. We also include a variety of styles that create different moods.
- Natural delivery: The voices sound authentic in all 11 supported languages, with no distracting accent.
- Pronunciation of foreign names: Correctly reading foreign names is often a tough task for AI, especially with less widely spoken languages. Even so, the voices in Cabinet of Wonders hold up very well on this front too.
- Reading abbreviations and numbers: The voices flawlessly read historical dates, complex numbers, fractions, and the abbreviations typical of curatorial texts.
- Contextual intonation: The narrator doesn't recite text monotonously — intonation shifts naturally, and important passages get the emphasis they deserve.
